I wish they were all like this...

I was asked to look at the encryption of a game called Super Trio, and it tunerd out to be some very basic XOR on the bottom address lines, surely done by a PAL near the 68000.
One wonders why did they even bother to encrypt it, if it was so trivial to break (moreover, surely a PAL based encryption would have posed no problem for any bootlegger).

Anyway, I don't have time to write new drivers these days, so my job is done. Hopefully the hardware won't be difficult to figure out, so we'll soon be able to revive another nice and rare game (as I'm told).

Please don't say "you could"... say "could you please". Presentation is everything :)

Nicola,

I just wanted to say that MAME is some of the greatest code for a computer ever written. I always loved the video arcades, and too many have closed. MAME brings back memories of my childhood!

Keep up the great work on hardware discovery, decryption, and figuring things out. Even if you don't have the time to write drivers, the discoveries you figure out are great, as they help other devs like Aaron Giles, R. Belmont, [Haze], and many others write drivers.

Hi Nicola,

nice blog :) Since it's all the rage, I am tranforming MAMEWorld, too. Needs to be done to keep on top of things...one comment/question:

I would like to syndicate your news similar to what I've done with Haze's and Arbee's WIP pages here:

http://www.mameworld.net/test2.php

...second column from the right in the news section.

This will be an optional popup kind of thing (Click to activate extra news or something like this.). The problem I'm having is: The RSS parser I use can't read .xml newsfeeds, only RSS1 or 2. Does blogger allow you to publish a RSS feed on top of your XML one, like Movable type does?

Quick comment:

on your individual post pages the link to the feed is broken. Just a path issue, it always links to the archive folder instead of the root. Example:

http://mamelife.blogspot.com/2005/02/atom.xml

All the best

..ok...wip...the above can now be found at:

http://www.mameworld.net/test.php

Use the "activate RSS/WIP".

It seems like the parser only reads rsd and rdf files...

Cheers :)

I know you where working before with the Seibu games (Raiden series, Viper Phase 1 Series)and would like to know if you will be updating or trying to fix those games to work in MAME soon, Thanks, and keep up the great work.

I'm lovin it :)

RSS publishing is a "premium" feature. The free Blogger only allows Atom publishing.

I just read up on this. Indeed Google/Blogger are pushing the atom standard and not everyone is particularly happy with it.

I did some digging and found a parser which translates atom to RSS and then displays this as standard compliant HTML on your page. Pretty nifty :)

You are officially syndicated by MAMEWOrld! I hope to launch the news design tonight. You and the viewers of this thread are the only people who have seen this:

http://www.mameworld.net/test.php

If you activate the News/Feeds link your feed now shows perfectly :)

Have fun with your new blog!

So if Super Trio was a snap to encryped why is it taking a eternity to get the Seibu games/Raiden series to work?
